Sarein is a city in Ardabil Province, Iran and it is well-known for its hot springs. The Sareyn springs are in the vicinity of an inactive volcano in mount Sabalan and the water contains sulfur particles which is believed that is good for bone and joint pains. In addition, the word Sareyn in Persian means “Spring’s Outlet”. The springs’ water is heated mostly by the Sabalan mountain which is Iran’s second highest mountain after Damavand. Due to its climate and hot springs, numerous people travel to this region from different parts of Iran and the world.
Moreover, Sareyn is famous for its honey and ‘Ashe Doogh’ (Yogurt Soups), local food which is specially made in Ardabil. During the pleasant summer days, it is common among the local shops to be seen selling and preparing this soup.
